| The two motos immediately
above led me on a "goose chase" of sorts for several years. About five
years into Zundapp fever someone told me of this older gent ( and a
commercial pilot ) that lived north of Ft.Worth and had a barn full of
Zundapps. So I went looking for him with little more than this
information. Found his place several times, but each time, I
heard....you just missed him! He lived here for several months/years
but just moved one/ two/ three weeks ago and I think he went.... and
so my journey for the elusive Zundapp cache continued to elude me year
after year. I finally gave up believing it to be little more than one
of those stories that one hears from someone who heard it from someone
that heard it from someone... you get the picture. Last week a fella
some 60~70 miles west of the last place I looked sent me some photos
of some of his Zundapp motorcycles. And through conversations with him
I have determined that it was he whom I had sought all those years. He
had a barn full of old motorcycles for years, but only five of them
were ever Zundapps. You often hear of the fisherman or the hunter that
tells of " the one that got away"!! Well, here's the ones that got
away. |

This bike really should be in pre-war section, but as you can see it's got the wrong motor in it. Seems the present owner bought this at a swap meet in So. America and shipped it home (Brazil). Unfortunately scoundrels stole the motor while in transit and now he must search for a new motor. So until he finds the right motor I'm going to leave it here in the back pages. Looks as though he needs a correct front fork as well. If someone in South America has such parts I'll be glad to put the two of you in touch with one another. Help a motorman out! | ||
